lunch break shopping: paris
the vintage and literary finds we fell in love with today, with the city of lights and love in mind
February 5, 2014Column: places to go people to see
1. a vintage copy of paris vogue: our french may be 101, but we will spend hours looking at the photos. (one day we'll use the magazine for translation assignments when we take french classes.)
2. a vintage paris ritz hotel luggage label: isn't the typography fabulous? this is pretty enough to frame.
3. a demitasse cup from maxim's: or cafe de flore, or brasserie lipp, or any other classic paris restaurant. a souvenir we'd use every morning.
4. a copy of one special summer: it's the illustrated journal of jackie bouvier (later jackie kennedy) and her 18-year-old sister, lee, during the summer of 1951 as the two embarked on a trip through europe together. the two presented the finished journal to their parents as a thank you for letting them go; when it was discovered decades later, it was printed in book form exactly as it was found. it's very special indeed.
