kiss and makeup
our beauty advisor, poppy king, walks you through easy wedding day makeup with an old hollywood twist
March 5, 2013Column: deliberate polish
to finish our series on all things wedding-related, we enlisted the advice of our beauty advisor, poppy king, for her wedding day makeup secrets—something that will look beautiful in photos and in real life. "when i think of the perfect kissable lips," says poppy, "i think of grace kelly as she leans in to kiss jimmy stewart in the film rear window. she looks polished, perfect and passionate—a lovely wedding day combo. here are my four steps for achieving an equally picture-perfect, fresh-faced look when you walk down the aisle:"
1. lashes and liner: apply just a touch of liner across the top lid, but layer on the mascara and make your lashes the focus.
2. your foundation: don’t get too heavy handed. a slight sweep of either powder or tinted moisturizer will look luminous without being heavy.
3. red lips? say "I do!" apply straight from the tube, then blot the excess with a tissue to create a light stain effect. and not come off on the receiver of your kiss!
4. skip the blush. you’ll be all aglow, naturally, from your romantic day.
